Things to expect in the #NewNormal post Pandemic
Here’s to the ones that we got
Cheers to the wish you were here, but you’re not…..
This song was launched in September 2019 but soon time showed all of us the real meaning of it.
In India where WFH (Work-from-Home) was only limited to certain industries & it has now become a reality for each and every sector. Some Adapted & Survived & A Few did not. The lockdown Tsunami wiped all the preconceived notions about Job Profiles, Roles and Responsibilities, Work Culture & a lot more. And now we have entered a new era which is more fascinating than entering a new Millennium!
Some interesting findings about #NewNormal –
- Some Companies are working with 30% Talent on the site & rest from home. Rotational Shifts, Flexi timings are all a part of this Hybrid Work Culture.
- Social distancing has Made Offices Look different. Don’t be surprised if you don’t see lined up cubicles.
- #NewNormal also changed the decision making process and the time for the same.
- #NewNormal has given birth to new customers and new suppliers.
- The survivors soon realised that they not only need to change their product / service offerings but need to also look and hire a workforce who is ready to work anywhere, at any time & on everything. Adaptability is the new skill required.
- Adoption of Digitalization and new Technology. Literally everything seems to be heading for Technology.
- Employees from all Industries have realised the importance of Continuous Learning. Talent from all industries is laying emphasis and focus on skill enhancement courses.
- New Formula = Survival = Remote Working Skills + Technology (Office culture)
There has also been S “Business Impact of #newnormal”
Reduced Costs: Companies have reduced costs in facilities. Reduced costs due to remote hires coming from Tier3, Tier4 cities.
Better process documentation: Internet usage may cause issues in some people going offline intermittently during important calls, so quality of business process documentation has improved. As processes are getting documented, we see more initiatives on business process automation as well.
Bounce Back Initiatives better than previous few years
Many companies that had frozen new project hiring. Now have given more thought through ‘bounce back initiatives’ to make up for 2020 losses. Most of these initiatives are already showing faster upscaling than anticipated as companies are open to relook at newer more efficient vendors that are promising more.
Overall, the 2020 wakeup call has forced to relook at fundamental beliefs about ‘working style’ and has resulted in much better shaped processes that are clearly showing a more promising growth in the #newnormal, which would not have happened otherwise.
