Recruitment Diaries: A candidate backing out at the last minute is when a recruiter needs to build confidence by showing the bigger picture.

Located in Nashik, a leading company in controls and process automation systems approached us to help them identify a suitable candidate for the position of General Manager Finance.

Our team member, Vayunandan grabbed the opportunity with both hands. He sifted through numerous candidates’ profiles and even created a pool of shortlisted candidates who met all their requirements. But like all good stories, this one too had a twist.

After going through the recruitment process, another hurdle emerged. The candidate selected by the client backed out at the last moment. He was not ready to make the switch. The challenge: His current employer matched the emoluments for the job.

Considering the candidate’s skill sets, strengths and accomplishments, we were confident that this switch would be a huge step forward in his career. The shortlisted candidate was the right man for the job, however the client wasn’t not able to fulfil the requirements due to various other constraints.

Throughout this situation, Vayunandan was calm and persistent. In order to make it a win-win for both parties, he recommended the client to offer the candidate a higher designation. The client was convinced and offered the candidate the position of Group General Manager and the mandate was closed within 45 days.

The whole process was challenging yet satisfying. With experienced recruiters like Vayunandan, Talent Corner yet again proved its mettle. In the end, both the client and candidate were happy with the offer brought to the table. It is obstacles and challenges like these that makes us agile and resilient when it comes to recruiting the best for our clients and identifying the best opportunities for candidates.
